In a powerful blend of activism and artistry, a collective of Ghana’s most influential voices has released a new collaborative album titled “Second Chance.” This special album, put together by The Or Foundation, features heavyweights like Sister Debbie, Gasmilla, Wanlov The Kubolor, Kwesi Amewuga, Ayisi, and Pure Akan, alongside a diverse lineup of emerging talent including Marvin Brooks, Suzzy, All My Cousins, and more.
The album serves as a response to the environmental and economic challenges facing the Kantamanto secondhand market, particularly following the devastating fire in January 2025. Instead of focusing solely on the struggle, “Second Chance” celebrates the market’s resilience, skill, and creative energy.
One thing that makes this album unique is that it uses real sounds recorded inside the market. When you listen, you can hear the hum of sewing machines and the busy sounds of the traders. It feels like you are walking through Kantamanto while listening to your favorite artists.
The album is now available for streaming on all major digital platforms (Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube). We highly recommend listening to the project in full to appreciate the cohesive narrative.
This album shows that music can help solve problems. By bringing together famous singers and local market workers, the project reminds us to value what we have and support our own.
This album is likely to be a major talking point for the TGMA 2026, particularly in categories like Album of the Year or Music for Good.
