The global sound of the underground has just shifted. Ghana’s premier Afro-Drill collective, Savage 4, has joined forces with UK Grime pioneer Novelist and the “Minister of African Music,” Smallgod, to drop the high-octane single “ABONTEN (GHRIME RIDDIM I).”
This track is the first major taste of the groundbreaking collaboration between the Tema-based group and the London lyricist, recorded during their viral “Pressure Makes Diamonds” sessions at the Free The Youth lounge. “Abonten” (The Streets) is a gritty, high-tempo fusion that marries the raw energy of UK Grime with the dark, heavy baselines of Ghanaian Drill.
